How to get the most out of studying (or “How to study long and hard and still fail!”)

All my students should watch this.  Dr. Stephen Chew is a cognitive psychologist who translates what we know about how people learn, into clear, useful information for students to help them study better.  Note that I’ve linked to the first presentation in a 5-part series so be sure to watch them all, and watch them more than once.

The first video (above) is about beliefs about studying that “make you stupid.”  They include trying to multi-task – you can’t do it even if you think you can!  Get rid of distractions when you’re studying (that is, after you watch this video so you can find out more about what you should be doing!)
